The Head of Media Network is responsible for proactively leading all aspects of communications, content development, content distribution, production management and content programming for Red Bull Canada. They understand how to tell stories, have a deep understanding of the Canadian media landscape and can confidently lead all aspects of internal and external communications. This role is responsible for building audiences in key target areas (e.g. Snow Sports, Bike, Motorsports, Adventure, Gaming, Dance, etc.) and for growing engagement by reaching more people, more often, in order to keep them for longer on our Owned (redbull.com and Red Bull TV), Managed 3rd party (YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok etc.) and Earned (3rd party Canadian media outlets) channels. They are responsible for providing media and content expertise to complement and evolve the local organization’s marketing mix in partnership with Brand, Sports and Culture Marketing, nationally and globally.
CONTENT STRATEGY AND MEDIA INNOVATION
Creates and curates engaging storydriven ’beyond the ordinary’ content that excites and inspires an evolving consumer base. Intimately knows and understands the Canadian consumer and is able to represent their diversity and values throughout Red Bull storytelling.Has a deep understanding and passion for the product and for Red Bull’s target audiences in order to drive internal and external strategic communications for both.Has a strong network of production management and Canadian production companies, videographers, directors and photograaphers, to effectively bring content to life.Ensures that the local team is aligned with global audience and media strategies across product, events, opinion leaders/influencers, athlete and dancer projects in order to adapt and develop hyper locally relevant plans.- Develops and executes Red Bull Canada’s strategic media direction by building a year-round engagement plan that delivers relevant and surprising content for product and key audiences encompassing: - Building third party distribution partnerships and opportunitiesDefining the strategic role of Red Bull channels in accessing and engaging different audiencesOngoing data insights and reporting to assess in real time any shifts in our approachOngoing creative ideation alongside the global and local teams to keep the content pipeline filled for Red Bull Canada 365 days/year with incredible stories across all formatsIndustry expert who motivates the team to stay ahead of the curve by constantly evolving our story telling and content innovation to optimize our consumers’ experience, enabling Canadians to watch our content anywhere, anytime and in any way they wantContributes expertise to further develop product, events and athletes/artists projects to tell their stories to bigger audiences
EXPERIENCE
Your areas of knowledge and expertise
that matter most for this role:
A senior media professional with an extensive understanding and connection to the Canada in media network
Minimum of 10 years experience in Media, Communications, or Strategy in media led companies
Minimum of 5 years and a proven track record in leading teams and projects in media and content business
Experience working with media executives on content distribution strategies
A strong creative and project management background
Proven success in thinking strategically about how to build audience engagement
Is a story seeker that identifies year-round stories with true media potential
Knows how to set an authentic and credible content strategy in the sports, culture and entertainment space while surprising with new categories to deliver beyond our traditional topic fields
Understands different strengths and weaknesses of partner platforms and utilizes them to maximize engagement
Understands and educates the organization on media consumers and their constantly changing consumption behaviors
Proven leadership qualities and exceptional presentation skills
Excellent at building relationships in all fields of media, digital platforms and entertainment
An agile, team player that knows how to get the work done
Works with passion and motivates others around them
University degree in Communications and/or Media
Travel up to 25%
