Coast operates in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia providing approximately 1000 people with supportive housing and 4000 clients living in the community with a wide variety of programs and services.

Job Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Employment Services, this position is responsible for, the training, supervision and co-ordination of designated work units within the Clubhouse vocational program and supporting Clubhouse members on their prevocational plan that included the Transitional Employment Program, in line with the mission, objectives and policies of Coast Foundation and the Employment Services Division. This position will be working with low barrier youth - life skills, case management and facilitation. Support program young adults ages 19 to 30 in the day program, including establishing trusting and non-judgemental rapport. Maintain the day-to-day operation of the program under the direction of the coordinator. Ensures the implementation of the programs including, leisure activities, community kitchen, and community outings, cooking, supporting individual goals and including vocational plans. Supports individualized life skills programs with client’s involvement. Consult with the client, therapeutic support, family and other relevant individuals to identify the needs and goals of the individual young adult. Supports recovery plans, Teaches and models life skills and strategies necessary for self-care. Applies a range of effective communications strategies such as role modelling to establish a collaborative rapport with the clients. Provides the support and information necessary to help clients build self-esteem and develop decision-making skills. Assists clients to identify and gain access to formal and informal community supports such as leisure, vocational, educational services through active community integration; providing community services resources of community services. Advocates for and with the clients to encourage them to maintain their rights and dignity. Maintain Social Media accounts for Clubhouse and Young Adult programs Facilitate in person and virtual workshops and group activities Develop and lead Wellness-Awareness Programs Maintain accurate logs and compile statistical records to support program needs and inform ongoing program development and evaluation. Performs administrative tasks, as assigned. As required, liaise and advocate for the best interests of young adult Build and maintain a network of positive working relationships with other service providers to ensure effective referrals and a good continuum of service for aging out. Uses formal and informal assessment practices such as interviews to develop individual plans identifying the client’s areas of interest and need. Actively assist in the ongoing development and review of program and monthly calendar of events. Positively address all concerns, incidents or crises, which affect program mandate. Reports and addresses health and safety issues/concerns as they arise. Fulfils any other functions/duties, as required, to ensure the safe, healthy and productive operation of the house. May be asked to direct students, peer clients and volunteers.


Required Qualifications Diploma in Community Social Service Certificates in First Aid + CPR, WHMIS and FoodSafe Recent, related experience of two years Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience or other qualifications determined to be reasonable and relevant to the level of work Knowledge of community and psychiatric resources and services. A Valid BC Class 5 drivers licence and vehicle, Emergency First Aid certificate Criminal record clearance through the Ministry of Justice required if hired Knowledge and Abilities:
Ability to work with people with a mental illness.Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others.Ability to operate related equipment.Ability to organize and prioritize.Ability to establish and maintain rapport with clients.Ability to observe and recognize changes in clients.Good motivational skills.Understand the principles of psychosocial rehabilitation and employment counselling and the philosophy, functions, policies and goals of the Clubhouse program. Experience with street entrenched youth and Young Adults, including working with people facing multiple barriers and homelessness Ability to manage group settings with dynamic, high intensity mental health and addiction challenges Ability to conduct immediate risk assessments, safety plans and interventions
