This is accomplished across four geographic management zones which are responsible for the operation of acute care health centres and the provision of a variety of inpatient, outpatient services including academic, tertiary, quaternary care and community based programs and services including continuing care, primary health care, public health, and mental health and addictions.
Responsibilities
Specific functional areas of responsibility within health records/admitting and registration include:
Oversight of all health information services best practices and standard operating procedures in relation to health records/admitting and registration for all NSHA servicesEmployee, manager, and partner relationship managementUnderstanding and acquiring the knowledge to perform departmental functions such as patient registration, systems application, electronic record management, release of information and safety audits as required in investigation of customer service issue resolutionPlanning, scheduling, coaching and supervising staff, monitoring daily work flow and the execution of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with standards across the organization
Along with the above individual program requirements the HIS Assistant manager must:
support orientation and learning/training programslead the talent and team development, succession planning, employee engagement, staff retention & recognition, recruitment strategiesidentify and resolves issues and conflicts within the team and track milestones and deliverablesproactively manage changes in portfolio scope, identifies potential crises, and prepares contingency planshave the ability to analyze and problem solve complex issues towards effective solutionshave the ability to exercise sound judgement, critical thinking and effective decision makingbuild, develop and grow any relationships vital to the success of health information servicesdevelop systems to ensure proper and efficient use of equipment, supplies and facilitydirect performance and attendance management, and change management
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, or Diploma in Health Information Management with 3-5 years of health information management experienceCurrent certification with the Canadian College of Health Information Management and membership with the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA) is preferredMinimum 3-5 years recent leadership experience in an organization of significant size with a minimum of 20 team membersExperience with health information management in an organization of significant size and/or complexity is required (consideration may be given to those with equivalent training and work experience - minimum of 2 years)Knowledge of Privacy Legislation – Freedom of Information & Protection of Privacy Act, Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, Personal Health Information Act (FOIPOP, PIPEDA, & PHIA)Demonstrated experience in and knowledge of policy and procedure development and implementation, and project managementMicrosoft Office - Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook expertiseExcellent analytical, organizational, and decision making skillsExceptional interpersonal skills to effectively build relationships and interact with all clients in scopeHigh level of competence in both written and verbal communicationCommitment to providing the best healthcare experience possible to our patientValid driver license as travel is required within the province
Management Assets:
Certified Health Executive and/or Certified Professional in Health Care Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS) designationExperience investigating suspect data entry errors or omissions an assetStrong and confident conflict resolution experience with the ability to transform conflict considered an assetExperience in clinical information systems including (McKesson STAR/ Meditech etc.) and other analytic tools (Business Objects/COGNOS cubes, etc.) an assetKnowledge of LEADS framework and LEAN Six Sigma considered an assetCompetencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
Hours of Work
Permanent full time position; 75 hours biweekly
Salary Information
$30.0181 - $37.5228 hourly
